After graduating with a BFA from The Cooper Union School of Art, Ms Raphael began work as a graphic designer and illustrator. Drawn to the field of children's literature, she began writing as well as illustrating books, among which are several acclaimed series on Art History and American History. Her skills in printmaking enabled her to produce an award winning series of etchings for literary classics published by the Franklin Library, the limited edition division of the Franklin Mint. While these activities have brought Ms Raphael both awards and honors, none of them bring satisfaction to compare with that which comes from her work on these Meditations on Vermont.
